Box Mod | Betrayal at House on the Hill

My bespoke game box obsession gets deeper.

After doing my mod for Bargain Quest, I knew I had to take this to the next level. Betrayal at House on the Hill is a notoriously deep game, and a favorite in my house. However it can be a little…..complicated.

Tokens! Tiles! Cards! Minis! The original vacuum formed box insert isn’t really up to the challenge of keeping everything organized, especially once you’ve added in the Widow’s Walk expansion. So I fired up TinkerCAD (yes, I was still using TinkerCAD, don’t judge) and created this multi-tiered box. I went all out for this one and it shows.

The manuals and dice are on top in a removable tray, and underneath we have slots for the miniatures, character cards, and token boxes. The pentagonal box is a variation on SpaceFanatic’s token holder from Thingiverse. I deepened it to accomodate the extra pieces from the expansion and added the flourishes on top. The other contains the character markers from the expansion, which I added 3D printed “feet” to so they’re easier to manipulate.

That tray is also a leather-lined dice tray, because rolling 6 dice, on a table full of carefully arranged pieces, can get perilous. (Also, someone in our playgroup always rolls with a little too much fervor.)

Now my copy of Betrayal is just like a haunted house - scuffed and worn outside, with an inside full of haunted treasures.
